Unfailing Hope

The soul prizes the honor and glory of God more than its own honor and glory.

martyrdom than pains.

Patience first, suffering second.

God gives no more than we can bear.

Aridity

The soul keeps praising our Lord.

It knows it did not itself do the fighting.

completely powerless.

To fight is to praise.  Cheering.

comfort comes from above.

The help comes from the Lord who created heaven and earth, not from the heaven and earth.

Inexpressible distress.

The best medicine for enabling the soul to endure it-is to occupy oneself with

external affairs and works of charity and to hope in God's mercy.

Distress is the soul's entrance into the seventh mansion.

The fire in a lighted brazier, from which some spark will fly out and touch the soul.

Enough to feel the burning heat of the fire; but the fire is not hot enough to burn it up.

Delectable.

It goes and comes again.  Never permanent.

It never completely enkindles the soul; just as the soul is about to become enkindled, the spark dies, and leaves the soul

yearning once again to suffer that loving pain of which it is the cause.

If one had served the Lord for very many years by suffering great trials, she would have felt well rewarded.

HIs power to unite pain with tranquility and joy in the soul.

The sense of power and authority.

Great tranquility dwells in the soul.

These words never vanish at all.

Half-dream.

Unexpectedly.

seems to be hearing something.

One single word.
