We each have a story.

Our stories tell who we are as they chart the unfolding of our lives and all of the factors that make each of us unique.

Journaling is a means of helping us discern our stories, make sense of them,

understand their significance, and connect them with God's story.

Personal story as a pilgrim, and track your spiritual development.

Use your journal to assist you.

A journal is a journey:  a gift, not a task, to yourself.

Journaling requires silence, inner space to reflect.

Silence is space.

Room to reflect can only be provided by complete silence: no complaining nor condemning.

No spelling and grammar; just legible.

Total honesty:  express yourself without reservation or fear of consequences.

Journals are a tool for reflection.  There is great power in putting thoughts on a page.

By means of journal reflection that we get in touch with our past,

recognize what is happening to us in the present,

and develop a sense of where our future lies.

A spiritual autobiography is the selection of incidents from a life that

reveal the spiritual thread that wends its way through that life.

Journaling focuses mind and heart on the issues of growth with the aim of discerning what God is doing in one's life.

By examining the lives of various people, you will hear echoes from your own story.

A journal record my spirit.

"Remember"

Journals have value for their authors:  the journals allow them to "remember,"

and out of "remembering," to see their unique journey of faith emerge.

Journals help them to know themselves and God.

Notice the larger context of my life.

Examine the process of remembering.

Life is a series of interconnecting periods of time,

and each period has its own distinctive character.

to understand who we are, we must take account the period in which we are living.
